The Tours

Take off for the skies from the Petersburg waterfront aboard a Dehavilland Beaver floatplane. Choose from two of the most breathtaking adventures you’ll experience during your time in the great state of Alaska. Your pilot, Scott, offers unparalleled tours around Petersburg with his knowledge in both the area and the history that this one of a kind town has to offer.

LeConte Glacier - 48 Minutes

The LeConte Glacier is the southernmost tidewater glacier in North America. This glacier is located at the head of LeConte Bay, just 15 miles from Petersburg. We climb over the Stikine Icefield with a view of Devils Thumb which is one of the boundary peaks that comprises the border between Alaska and Canada. As we descend over the glacier you will see the beautiful deep blue melt-water ponds. The face of the glacier is 200-300 feet high and, as we circle the face, we may be fortunate enough to see it calve. On the way out of the bay we will be lower in altitude where we can observe the harbor seals laying on the icebergs after they have given birth to their pups. Sometimes there are hundreds of seal swimming or laying on the icebergs. On the way back to Petersburg we may see whales in their summer feeding grounds in Frederick sound.

Cost: $250 per person, 4-6 people

Devil’s Thumb - 1.2 Hours

Devils Thumb is 9077’ feet at it’s peak and is one of the many mountains that make up the border between Alaska and Canada. This is hands down the most amazing tour available in Southeast Alaska. This magnificent mountain is absolutely breathtaking and as we climb high towards the mountain we will get a aerial view of Patterson Glacier. Once we get to the mountain we will circle the peak and then slowly descend towards LeConte Glacier, following the glacier from where it begins at the upper levels of the Stikine Icefield.  This tour is longer at 1.2 hours and requires very good weather conditions.

Cost: $1,584 for up to 4 people
